Year 12
The HSC English courses (Advanced, Standard, ESL, Extension 1 and Extension 2) require students to engage with sophisticated analysis of texts and provide insightful reflection of concepts explored in the modules set for study.

Studies in English must be guided by current English teaching practitioners who have an excellent understanding of the Board of Studies English Syllabus and HSC Prescriptions List.

All tutors are specialist HSC teachers with HSC marking experience. This corporate marking experience is used to help guide your child to shape their understanding of the HSC course that will help maximise their results. Tutors will show students how best to shape their responses and develop examination strategies to achieve Band 6 results.

Classes focus on the Area of Study (as the common content for Advanced and Standard). The skills gained in the common content are transferred to the Modules for each course. It is vital that a student achieves very strong results in the common course (Area of Study) as it has a moderating impact on the HSC results.

Classes consider content of texts, break down the various techniques used by composers and model how best to respond to tasks - not just essays! Students are shown how to respond to viewing/representing tasks (such as posters and brochures), speeches, feature articles, interviews and reflective journals.
Extension 1 students can request one to one assistance in their area of specialty.
Extension 2 students can also seek guidance on their Major Work on a one to one basis.
