Years 9 and 10

At Compass, students in Years 9 and 10 are supported in developing their comprehension, text analysis and writing skills.

Students learn about the structural and language features of a number of texts, focusing on how composers use language conventions to shape meaning and convey their messages to responders. Some of the text types that are analysed include: news articles, letters to the editor, editorials, speeches, poetry, information texts, advertisements, film, short stories, reviews, novels and essays.
